I want to use a background that has a graphic on the left side for an even page, but want to flip it so the same graphic is on the right side of an odd page. Can I do that?

You can mirror backgrounds. If you select the background frame then go to the Frame tab at the top > transform >Flip Horizontal.
This will mirror the background image.
There is a text box on my cover i made for the yearbook and i tried everything to get if off but it’s just not deleting? How do i do that with out if messing up everything?

It is possible that the text box could be locked or may have been accidentally assigned to the background.
