References are helpful for both new and experienced yearbook advisors. Instead of recreating layouts from scratch, you can save time by accessing and cloning layouts from prior yearbook projects.

Layouts:

A physical yearbook can be a great source of inspiration, but recreating layouts from scratch can be time consuming, especially with limited class time or approaching deadlines. Using a page, layout, or cloning an entire book from a previous project can help you make faster progress.

This saves time, keeps your design consistent, and the pages remain fully editable so you can update photos, captions, colors, and layouts for this year’s content.

It will open another options panel where you can view any prior years, as well as pages from those years and saved templates that can be placed into the current yearbook project.

Here you can search for templates from that yearbook.

As illustrated above, If no templates were saved, you will still have access to all the pages from that yearbook, which can be placed into the current project you are working on.

Cloning a Book:

Cloning a book is a helpful and powerful tool that can provide creative direction, inspiration, and versatility. You can add or remove elements from imported pages, templates, or the entire book, giving you full editorial control over your yearbook.

In this same panel, you also have the option to clone the entire book, including the cover. Select how you would like to clone the book, and it will install the full layout, saving you time and bringing you one step closer to finishing your project.

This saves valuable time and helps maintain a consistent design throughout the book. Once the pages are placed, they remain fully editable, allowing you to swap photos and backgrounds, update captions, adjust colors, and modify layouts to fit this year’s content.

Using past pages as a foundation speeds up the design process and helps you complete your book more efficiently during one of the busiest times of the year.
