Kick off your Yearbook Photo Challenge with Back to School!
The beginning of the school year is filled with moments worth remembering, but many of them happen before students even walk through the school doors. This challenge helps you collect those candid, personal photos directly from your school community.
Encourage families to submit photos such as:
- First-day-of-school photos
- New backpacks and school supplies
- Bus stop pictures
- School spirit
- First-week activities
- Reunions with friends
- Other favorite back-to-school moments
These photos are a great way to capture the excitement of a new school year while featuring moments your yearbook staff may not otherwise have access to.
Use the Challenge 1 Template
We've created a coordinating Back to School template in EDONext to make turning your submissions into finished yearbook pages easy.
Once you've collected your photos, choose your favorites and drop them into the template. Add names, captions or other details to personalize the pages for your school.
Where to Find the Template
In EDONext:
1. Open your yearbook project.
2. Navigate to the page where you'd like to use the challenge template.
3. Open Templates in the Designer.
4. Search “Photo Challenge”
5. Select the Photo Challenge 2 template and apply it to your pages.
Tip: Add these pages to your ladder ahead of time so you already have a place for your Challenge 1 photos as they come in!
Collect Photos From Your Families
We've also created a ready-to-send email you can use to introduce the challenge to your school community.
Copy the email below, add your photo submission link and submission deadline, then send it to your families.

Please submit photos by [DEADLINE]. When submitting, be sure to include the student's name and grade in the caption.
