Step 1: On your yearbook page, place the image that you wish to clip. Select the image, then select the Clip button that appears in the Quick Menu.

Please note:  If you clip a photo, a new image will be created and will replace the one with the background.  If you need to use the image again in the book, or aren’t sure if you want to keep the clipped image, download the image and make a copy of it first.  This way you can use the non-clipped image if you wish.

Step 2: The clipping window will appear on your screen. It will automatically outline the image with a yellow line to mark the section of the image that you may want to keep. It also displays a preview on the right side. To add or remove more sections, simply use the red marker for those you want to remove and use the green marker for the parts you want to keep.

The eraser tool can be used to remove the green and red marks that you wish to remove.

In order to better refine the boundaries of your image, you can opt to use the Refine menu. By default, it is set to automatic, but if you wish to refine the edges manually, you can do that as well. The yellow marker is used to outline hair strands, the scalpel lets you “cut” parts of your image, and the hand button allows you to move the image around.

Step 3: Tweaking your image

You can use more advanced edits in the bottom row of tool bars, such as putting a feather around your selection to make the edge softer, and fine tuning the hair.

Once you’re done making your edits and would like to save the changes, click the blue DONE button at the top toolbar.

Note: Once you have clipped your image, the basic crop tool will no longer be available for the image you clipped. If you wish to to crop or edit the image some more, you need to go back to the clipping editor.

Run Out Of Clipping Credits: WHAT TO DO!

You will have 500 clipping credits assigned to your account at the beginning of the project.  1 credit will be used each time you clip an image, but should you need more, you can always transfer your design points into clipping credits.  You will see this prompt ( Request Clipping Credits) to let you know that you have reached your limit of clipping credits and will need to purchase more.
