Follow these Step by Step instructions:

Page: Halloween Party

What you will need to build the page:

Photos: Kids in costumes, decorations, carved pumpkins

Text: Captions for photos, a brief description of the event

Embellishments: Clip Art, QR codes, backgrounds and images of things used at the events

Steps:

  1. Pick a background.
  • Pick a background that flows the theme of your book or fits the content on the page.
  • If you are adding body copy or smaller text to the page, pick something simple so it will be easy to read.
  • If the page will simply be a collage, you can go with a more elaborate background

Tip: If the image that you want to place as a background is too busy, change the opacity of the image. First unlock the background and make sure the picture is selected on the page.  Then go to the Frame Settings on the right side to change the opacity.

2.  Select a number of photos for the event.

Example: Photos from the “Halloween Party”
– Photo of children putting candy in trick or treat bags.
– A picture of a child in a scary costume.
– A picture of children making Halloween crafts.
– Photo of awards given out to the best costume.
– A photo of a room with scary decorations.

Tip: Remember to place photos that are easily understood and are relatable to the page theme. Less is more, and if a photo does not appear to be a good fit for the page, then you might not want to use it. Also, you can place the photos in an order that those looking at the page can understand what is going on in that event.

3. Choose a font for your Headline and a complementary font for the the sub head. (if needed)

4. Arrange the objects on the page leaving some space between objects

5.  Finally, place the embellishments to the page you are designing. This could be clip arts that go along with the event on the page, design flourishes to call out pictures, or  a QR code for a short video of the children having fun at the party. These elements adds warmth and personality to the page that you designed.

To do this, you can either browse through the template categories, or type a word in the search field. To learn more about our pre-designed templates and how to use them, click here.
