Layers

Using layers while you are designing your yearbook can help you to stay organized. You can design on one layer, and use it as a guide while making other content in your book. You can also hide a layer if your page becomes to busy and you just want to focus on other things while designing. This article will go over everything you need to know for using layers in EDO.

Open a page in EDO. Once you are on the page, you will notice the layers button in the menu on the left side of your screen:

By default, there are always two layers on your page. The content layer and the background layer. You can toggle between the two layers by deselecting the checkmarks next to the name of the layer. You can also toggle directly to the background. This feature is more helpful if you have multiple layers.

To create a layer, click the “create layer” menu option. You can also delete layers by clicking the “delete layer” menu option. The only two layers you can never delete are the content layer and the background layer.

When creating a layer, you will first be asked to name your layer. Once you have a name for your layer, click create.

Once you have created the new layer, you can directly design on that layer. You can also move objects to a layer by using the right-click menu:
