While designing your book, you may run into certain warnings when you attempt to save your page. If left unchecked, these warnings will also appear as you approve your page content in the Final Approval process. Heeding these warnings can make a difference in the quality of your yearbook. Here’s an explanation of some of the warnings you may see.

Pre-Flight Warnings while Working in the Designer

Text in overflow:

While working in the designer, you might notice that some of your photos or text boxes have a yellow triangle in the bottom right-hand corner, as shown below.

This is called “Text in overflow”.  This happens when a character(s) is not showing in the text box because the box is too small.  This can happen if you hit “enter” to make an extra space, or if you forgot to delete a placeholder text on the very end of your text box or simply having more text content but the box is too small.

Click on the “text in overflow” warning on the Document Warnings pop-up window, and the text box that has the issue will automatically be selected on the page.

Dragging the corner of the text box outward to make room for all of the text will resolve the warning. You may also make the font size smaller, though any font smaller than 8 point will be hard to read in print.

Fit To Frame:

This warning will appear when the frame around a photo is cutting off part of the picture, or there is space between the edge of the picture and a side of the frame. To fix this issue, select the warning in the Documents Warnings popup window, and the photo with the warning will be automatically selected. Then, double-click on the Photo Settings tab on the right-hand side of the page to open these advanced options.

Once you have opened these settings, you will see your photo appear as a preview in this panel. There will be an option to change the Fit. More often than not, this is set to “Manual”, but if it is not, you can change it to manual using the fit dropdown.  Dragging the photo over the entire frame *even if it's a tiny bit* will fix this error.

If you are having difficulty finding the Photo Settings tab, just close the Ladder Page Selector and you'll see it's just behind it.

Low Resolution Image

This  warning will appear if you have an image that has a resolution lower than 120 DPI. You may want to reupload the image with a higher resolution to prevent this warning to show up. You can fix the resolution of your image in any photo editing tools, and by resizing it to a larger image size would give it a higher resolution. After that just upload the image again and replace the one in the page and you wont get that warning anymore.
